“How are you finding all of these Web3 project ideas to fund?”

During our building process, this was far and away the most common question we were asked. At a time when it can feel like finding even one fresh Web3 project is impossible, it’s the right question. So, let’s discuss:

I. Digital Advertising: Don’t sleep on paid ads. Cap3’s team has a combined 20+ years of experience running digital campaigns, and even in these oversaturated times, well-positioned Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google ads have delivered great results (to our pleasant surprise).

II. Conferences + IRL Events: The Cap3 team attended NFT.NYC (proof) and met some awesome founders who submitted projects. We’ll continue to expand this effort post-launch. London, LA, and Miami are all on our shortlist for 2023.

III. Twitter Spaces, LinkedIn Events, + Discord AMAs: We began hosting public forums inviting founders to come pitch their project ideas over the Summer. We will continue hosting these events to build our community and pipeline of projects.

IV. Referrals + Connections: As we’ve grown, so has our network. Cap3 is excited to be in touch with artists, developers, community managers, and Web3 influencers that send people with great ideas our way. Our relationships will continue to scale with our growth.

Finding the Balance ☯️

The methods we currently use to find Web3 project ideas aim to strike a careful balance between inclusivity and exclusivity.

Leveraging our connections and growing our network is important — we’ll keep doing it to find high quality projects from trusted people — however, we have a careful eye on our own biases. There is a risk of becoming an outlet that only considers projects if you “know the right people” if we don’t make a concerted effort (and investment) to search far and wide for new projects.

Someone once said “New York City is a great place to be, so long as you get out of New York City often enough.” We believe the same is true for Web3: it is indeed a great place to be, but getting sucked into the “in crowd” can warp your mind and leave you blind to the great ideas people are cooking up in the corners of the web the cool kids won’t bother to visit.

This is all to say that Cap3 is proudly looking everywhere possible, accepting submissions from anyone willing to fill out our application with a serious idea in mind. It is our job to sort through everything we receive and deliver the ones with legitimate potential to our community for funding consideration.

The longest tenured and most connected people in the space often have the best ideas, but true disruption can come from anywhere, so we’re committed to searching everywhere.
